I recently attended a "Mother's Tea" about babywearing, thinking it would help me decide which type of carrier to buy, but it ended up pointing me toward several carriers, each for its own purpose. This is our first carrier, a Kozy Carrier, made by a woman here in central Virginia. This one will work well into the toddler years, and as you can see needs some support for a newborn, at least the way I tied it up tonight. I'll probably end up using a wrap, sling or pouch more in these early months, but I haven't made them, yet, so I've been working with Maddie on using this carrier. She fussed after a couple minutes the first times I put her in, but today (it's still today for us even though it's after midnight) she napped for more than an hour. So I got to get caught up on Facebook, do a load of laundry and otherwise enjoy being close to my baby while having the use of both hands. Very nice! And she looks pretty content.

Tomorrow I'm going to try a padded sling I picked up at Once Upon a Child today. Then this weekend we're going to try a European-style carrier Maddie's Nana gave us, which I think is going to be great for hiking and for Bill to use. Can you see Bill in one of these carriers? No, neither do I.
